History Yorkshire Terriers are the world’s most well-liked terrier. This breed of dogs was developed in the early 1800’s in the Northern part of England. The original purpose of the Yorkshire terrier was to get rid of rats in the coalmines, but since then they have been a favorite with many families for many years now.

Characteristics

Yorkshire Terriers are very clever and active dogs, and they also do not have any fear. These dogs focus completely on their owners – they also very affectionate dogs. Many people say that the Yorkshire terrier requires more human company and awareness than any other dog breed.

Temperament

The Yorkshire terrier is one of the smallest dogs in the world. Yorkshire terriers are very happy and social dogs, and they also adapt really well. These dogs are very loyal, and also love to show affection to their families. The Yorkshire terriers make wonderful companion dogs, and they just love being pampered by their owners. Yorkshire Terriers also have a tendency to bark too much, but they are effective watchdogs however.

Yorkshire Terriers have long and silky hair, and they should be brushed and combed on a daily basis. The ears should also be checked to make sure there is no hair inside their ears. Training

Yorkshire Terriers are very quick to learn, but they can be very wilful making training difficult at times. Training these dogs should be conducted in a consistent and firm manner, and these dogs do not like to be ignored. It is therefore good to give them lots of praise while training them – this will ensure that the best is brought out in them.
